The Overwatch League (OWL) is a professional esports league for the video game Overwatch, produced by its developer, Blizzard Entertainment.
This anime was created for a live tournament. The anime character design is based on the characters players in the Overwatch game. The spot highlights and reveals the name of the real life person who will be playing each player character in the tournament. The project had a tight deadline and tight budget.
The New York Excelsior (NYXL) is an American professional Overwatch esports team based in New York City, New York. The Excelsior compete in the Overwatch League. The team’s name is based on the New York state motto, Excelsior, which means 'ever upward' in Latin. The motto was selected for embodying the team's commitment to "reaching the top and never letting up".
